Globally, the Netherlands ranks highly on various health and wellness scales. Lifestyle, access to healthy foods, excellent healthcare & education, and a built environment that fosters healthy lifestyles all contribute to citizens of the Netherlands living comparatively healthier lives.
Affordable, safe and accessible infrastructure equates to Equity. The fact that children and young people (of all backgrounds) make up the majority of journeys by bicycle is a contributing factor to Dutch children being the happiest in the world because of their independence. A modern transportation network also equates to higher economic benefit due to workers' greater mobility and access to affordable/free transportation which opens up wider job opportunities.
Traveling student groups will get an up close and personal introduction to the vast and connected network of bike paths, trams & trains and visit massive state-of-the-art bike parking facilities. Participants will also be introduced to policy-makers, and visit national institutions centred on improving the health of citizens.
This track has the option of being cycling intensive for groups of Fitness Education majors.
